There are many different acoustic guitar sizes and shapes. A number of
them were started by C.F. Martin and Co in the late 1800's and early
1900's and have since been adopted as standard sizes by subsequent guitar
manufacturers. Martin began using a series of 0's (pronounced Oh's,
not zeros). The 0 is smaller than the 00 and the physical size gets larger
with each additional 0. The Dreadnaught or "D" size is larger than
all of the various 0 models. Later, Gibson introduced a Jumbo guitar which
is among the largest popular acoustic guitar.
